Suspect dead, man seriously injured, after barricade situation and shooting involving officers in Queen Creek



The deadly shooting occurred near Sossaman Road and San Tan Boulevard on Monday night.

QUEEN CREEK, Ariz. — A suspect is dead, and a man is seriously injured after a barricade situation and shooting involving officers in Queen Creek on Monday night, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).

MCSO, in coordination with the Queen Creek Police Department, responded to a shooting incident near Sossaman Road and San Tan Boulevard.

Deputies said they learned a man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and the suspect barricaded himself inside a residence.

After the initial shooting and making contact with the suspect, a shooting involving officers occurred, MCSO said. The suspect was taken to the hospital after he was apprehended; however, he died at the hospital.

No officers were injured, according to MCSO.
