Phoenix police arrest man who allegedly threw rocks at an ambulance, police, and locked himself in nearby business

The rock-throwing incident happened near 35th Avenue and Indian School Road late Friday night.

PHOENIX — The Phoenix Police Department arrested a man on Friday night who allegedly threw rocks at an ambulance, officers and locked himself in a nearby business.

Around midnight, officers were called near 35th Avenue and Indian School Road for reports of criminal damage to a Phoenix Fire Ambulance.

Upon arrival, police learned that an ambulance was responding to a crash when someone reportedly damaged the vehicle with a rock. Minimal damage was done, police said.

Police talked to a man identified as 29-year-old Casper Corbert at the scene.

Police said Corbert was acting erratically and was asked to leave the area.

Corbert did not comply and started throwing rocks at officers, police said.

The man then ran into a nearby business and locked the front door while people were inside, according to police.

A person unlocked the door, and Corbert was detained.

He attempted to leave again and assaulted an officer, police said. The officer sustained minor injuries.

Corbert was booked into Maricopa County Jail on charges of trespassing, aggravated assault and resisting arrest.
