Weather conditions bring increased fire danger across Arizona. Here’s what you can do to prevent a wildfire.

High winds and low humidity create “critical fire weather” in Arizona, warns the National Weather Service, urging fire prevention efforts amid a Red Flag Warning.

PHOENIX — High winds and low humidity are making for “critical fire weather” for much of Arizona this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

The NWS issued a Red Flag Warning through the weekend for much of northern Arizona from Flagstaff into parts of the White Mountains.

On Sunday, that warning expands into the eastern and southeastern part of the state.

Due to the weather conditions, both the NWS and the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management are urging people to do their part to prevent wildfires.

AZDFFM posted the following fire prevention tips:

– Check your trailer chains to avoid dragging sparks.

– Put out and completely drown campfires.

– Avoid parking over dry grass, which can ignite from hot exhaust systems.

– No fireworks or target shooting on State Trust Lands.

A high wind watch has been issued for the far western stretch of the state for Sunday. The strong winds and very dry conditions will increase the risk of fire.
