Man suffers ‘serious burn injuries’ in truck fire along US 60 near Alma School

MESA, AZ — A man suffered serious burn injuries in a truck fire along US 60 in Mesa on Friday morning.

Westbound US 60 was shut down near Alma School Road after a pickup truck caught fire on the off-ramp during Friday morning’s rush hour.

Shortly after, emergency crews blocked all lanes of the freeway, leading to a lengthy traffic backup.

There was a large response of fire trucks, ambulances, and law enforcement vehicles in the area.

The freeway has since reopened.

Arizona Department of Public Safety officials say a man suffered serious burn injuries during the incident.

It’s unknown whether there was a crash or another factor that led to the fire.
