PHOENIX, Ariz. (KVOA) – The Arizona Department of Insurance and Financial Institutions (DIFI) has issued a cease and desist order against RespondersHealth, LLC for operating as an unlicensed insurer in Arizona, according to a news release.
Complaints to DIFI alleged RespondersHealth was denying claims despite active health services contracts. DIFI’s investigation confirmed the company was operating without a license.
“A company that misrepresents an unlicensed product as insurance is breaking Arizona law,” said Maria Ailor, DIFI interim director. “We will continue to take action against those who illegally conduct insurance business and deceive the public.”
With open enrollment approaching, DIFI urges consumers to purchase healthcare plans from reputable sources like healthcare.gov. Consumers should be cautious of plans described as self-funded or employer-sponsored, as they are not major medical health insurance plans, according to the news release.
For questions about RespondersHealth, consumers can contact DIFI’s Consumer Services Division online or by calling 602-364-3100.
