Tucson MLK march to take place Monday; What’s open & what’s closed

The 2024 Martin Luther King, Jr. March will take place on Monday, but
Tucson residents should remember all city services will be closed for
MLK Day with the exception of emergency services and Sun Tran transit.

The annual MLK celebration and march around the park will start at 10 a.m. on Monday at the Reid Park Outdoor Performance Center. The
celebration will take place following the march and continue until 2 p.m.

Congress designated the MLK holiday as a national day of service in
1994 and meant for it to be a “Day On, Not a Day Off,” the African American Museum of Southern Arizona said.

The Tucson branch of the United Way has a list of service projects looking for volunteers for Monday, including pulling invasive buffelgrass near the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum that morning.

Arizona State Parks and Trails will waive entrance fees at more than 30 state parks and natural areas on Monday, and entrance fees at national parks will also be waived.
