TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – Timothy Ray Munoz made a video court appearance on Wednesday, and is facing charges after a deadly crash in midtown Tucson.
These charges stem from a fatal crash on Aug. 10 that resulted in the death of his wife, 24-year-old Inez Marie Romero.
Munoz, 26, is facing charges of second degree murder and felony criminal damage.
Authorities allege Munoz was speeding and under the influence at the time of the crash.
According to the interim complaint, Munoz was seen driving a truck at a high speed through a neighborhood. Munoz allegedly lost control and hit a utility box before driving through a wall.
The truck landed on top of parked vehicles in a residential yard, resulting in around $10,000 of damage.
Munoz and his wife, Romero, were the only ones in the truck at the time of the incident. Romero was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the interim complaint, officers said Munoz has signs of impairment including slurred speech and the smell of alcohol coming from his breath.
Munoz’s next court hearing is scheduled for Aug. 25 at 1:30 p.m. He is currently held on a $750,000 bond.
