TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has identified a 28-year-old who died after being hit by a semi-truck.
Jordan Caleb Estes, 28, was identified as the victim of the fatal pedestrian crash.
PCSD said the incident happened on Sept. 29 around 9:45 p.m. at the intersection of North Thornydale Road and West Turkey Lane.
An off-duty Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper witnessed the crash and called 911. The trooper stayed at the scene until deputies arrived.
Upon arrival, deputies found a semi-truck parked at the roadside, with the driver and passenger uninjured. Deputies searched the area and located Estes and despite lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The PCSD Traffic Unit confirmed that neither speed or impairment were factors in the crash.
As part of the investigation, Estes was reported missing by a local behavioral health facility, according to PCSD.
