Tucson Unified School District Governing Boardmember Sadie Shaw will discuss her campaign for Tucson City Council at Monday’s meeting of the Democrats of Greater Tucson.
Shaw will talk about why she wants to unseat Tucson City Councilman Kevin Dahl in the Aug. 5 primary election at noon via Zoom. Register for the meeting here.
Shaw, who is in her second term on the TUSD after first winning office in 2020, said at a recent forum that she was running “because for too long, our neighborhoods, our parks, our roads and our commercial corridors have been under-resourced. I think that we need representation at the City Council level that can speak to our interests and is unafraid to advocate for us and to vote independently for our interests and our needs.”
At the same forum, Dahl said he wanted a second term to continue the work he has started.
“I’m running for reelection to keep working on climate change, water and the quality of life in our neighborhoods,” Dahl said. “We are working to reduce Tucson carbon emissions, but climate change is also an equity issue. The most vulnerable among us suffer the most.”
