TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – Tucson Police say federal immigration enforcement operations are actively taking place across Arizona, including Tucson. The Tucson Police Department emphasized its role in upholding local and state laws without interfering in federal operations.

In a statement, the department highlighted its commitment to public safety and collaboration with federal partners on serious criminal investigations such as drug and human trafficking, child exploitation, and violent crime.

The department has spent the last decade fostering trust and transparency within the community. To address apprehensions regarding federal activities, Tucson police have outlined what residents can expect from local officers.

Officers will provide their name, badge or payroll number, and show their department-issued identification card upon request, whenever possible.

Additionally, officers are not permitted to wear face coverings while responding to calls or conducting enforcement actions, and their uniforms will display visible Tucson Police identifiers.

The department expressed a commitment to ensuring safety, accountability, and trust within Tucson, emphasizing that a unified community contributes to greater security.
