TUCSON, Ariz. – (KVOA-TV) Thousands of Southern Arizonans participated in peaceful No Kings Day rallies across Southern Arizona today.
The No Kings Day protests are part of an organized worldwide effort to protest the Trump administration.
Many people gathered Saturday morning in Downtown Tucson to march to Presidio Park. Others gathered for a rally in Midtown at Speedway Blvd. and Country Club Rd.
“I know this is the second one we’ve had in Tucson, one protestor said Saturday. “It seems like we’ve had a variety of people come out here to, I saw one sign that says “I still hold my oath-United States Marine Corp. So, it seems we have people from across all the political spectrum showing up to this one.”
“It’s democracy,” protestor Ann Prugh said. “It’s the people saying what we need to be saying every weekend not just one weekend a month.”
“We’re here because we care about the country,” Dave Prugh said. “We want to see it run properly and it’s not a dictatorship, there’s no king in the USA.”
These were just two of the more than a dozen rallies scheduled in Southern Arizona.
There were more than 2,500 No Kings Day rallies scheduled across all 50 states.
