The Tucson community shares their memories of Lupita Murillo | Community



TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) — She catches the bad guys with style.

Tucson is thinking back on their time with the iconic Lupita Murillo.

“You know what Lupita Murillo was an amazing reporter and still is an amazing reporter she spent a night in jail when we were trying to pass our jail district she came in she did a story,” added. Manuel Ruiz Santa Cruz County Supervisor

Santa Cruz County Supervisor Manuel Ruiz remembering that unforgettable report by Lupita and how it made a monumental difference.

“She went through the whole booking and taking her picture and putting her in the prisoner garb and she has always been a friends to Santa Cruz county, “he said.

Scott Blades is the Executive Director at TIHAN and remembers how Lupita always rescued the organization and came through for them.

She’s helped them raise more than a million dollars through their charity alone.

“Lupita Murillo we love you thank you,” Blades said. 

He’s says he’s grateful for her big heart and selfless nature.

“Lupita you are an amazing asset to our community thanks KVOA news for loaning Lupita and helping to make our community better,” he said.

Our Lupita isn’t like everyone else.

Even folks at the invisible theatre know she’s one of a kind.

“Lupita we know in a world of knock offs you are a true original love and appreciation from everyone here at the invisible theatre,” added managing artistic director Susan Claassen.

She is a leader here in the newsroom and out in the community.

We will miss hearing the sound of her high heels at the station.
