Southern Arizonans invited to participate in 9/11 day of service with food drive | News

TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) — In observance of the 9/11 National Day of Service & Remembrance, Interfaith Community Services is hosting a food drive across three locations on Wednesday.

The collection will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the following sites:

  • Northwest Food Bank: 2820 W. Ina Road, on the campus of Christ the King Episcopal Church
  • Eastside Food Drop-off: 8701 E. Old Spanish Trail, on the campus of New Spirit Lutheran Church
  • Central Office: 122 N. Craycroft Road, on the campus of Rincon Congregational UCC

The 9/11 Day of Service & Remembrance is a national event that honors the heroes of September 11, 2001, by encouraging acts of service. The day serves as a chance for communities to unite, forge new connections, and work collectively to support others. The event was established by AmeriCorps.

Donations can include non-perishable items, produce, dairy, and packaged meats. Currently, the most needed items are peanut butter, canned meats (such as tuna, chicken, and Spam), ready-to-eat meals like chili and ravioli, canned fruit and vegetables, boxed baking mixes (like Jiffy and Bisquick), and canned pasta sauce and pasta.
