Senior Voices: Aging With Purpose and Support Offers Community Seminars | Community

To help keep SaddleBrooke informed, Senior Village presented two highly informative seminars addressing important topics related to safety and preparedness. Both seminars offered practical takeaways that could be immediately applied. The positive feedback received encouraged Senior Village to continue offering these vital educational sessions, with plans for more seminars scheduled for the fall. This includes a second presentation of When Later Is Too Late in response to significant interest and need for this information.

The first seminar, titled Lithium-Ion Battery Safety Seminar, delivered in February 2025, focused on the crucial aspects of handling and caring for items with lithium-ion batteries. A representative from Batteries Plus and a fireman from Golder Ranch Fire Department provided information on the proper storage to safe disposal of everyday items like cell phones, golf carts, household tools, and work tools. Attendees also received tips on how to recognize signs of battery damage or malfunction

The second seminar, When Later Is Too Late, delivered in March 2025, was an eye-opening discussion on the importance of planning for end-of-life events. It covered a range of topics, including severe accidents, the death of a spouse, and the importance of having a plan in place to ease the emotional and financial burden that such events can bring. One participant shared their appreciation for the content, saying, “The information presented in ‘When Later Is Too Late’ was very helpful. My wife and I agree we have work to do, and now we know how to get started. Please keep doing seminars like these.”

“We are thrilled by the response and look forward to bringing even more valuable seminars in the future,” said the Senior Village coordinator. “It’s clear that these discussions have struck a chord, and we are committed to continuing this important work.”

If you missed these events, don’t worry—additional seminars are on the horizon. Stay tuned for announcements about upcoming sessions designed to help you stay safe, informed and prepared.
