Second driver involved in fatal head-on collision dies | Top Stories

TUCSON, Ariz. – (KVOA) An elderly woman has died following a head-on in a collision on Tucson’s Westside Thursday afternoon. 

On Thursday, TPD officers responded to a two-car collision on the 1900 block of W. Anklam Rd. One driver, Luccia Romero, 35 was pronounced dead at the scene. The second driver, 76-year-old Linda Alderson, was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries. Police say Alderson passed away Saturday. 

Traffic investigators say Ms. Romero was traveling eastbound on W. Anklam Rd. when she crossed over the center lane and into the westbound lane. She collided head-on with Alderson’s car.

Detectives believe a medical issue Romero was having may have been a contributing factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
