Pima County Sheriff’s race and U.S. House battle in Arizona too close to call | Community

As election results continue to roll in, all eyes are on tight races in Arizona—particularly the battle for Pima County sheriff and the high-stakes contest in Arizona’s 6th Congressional District, which could have national implications.

In the Pima County sheriff’s race, incumbent Democrat Chris Nanos is holding a narrow lead over Republican challenger Lieutenant Heather Lappin, a deputy in his department. The race remains too close to call, with both candidates expressing cautious optimism as the vote count continues.

Nanos, who has served as sheriff since 2015, is hoping to secure another term in office, while Lappin—who has worked in law enforcement for over two decades—is aiming to unseat him and bring change to the department. 

Both campaigns are monitoring the situation closely, and analysts suggest that the race could come down to a few percentage points. 

Meanwhile, another key race capturing national attention is unfolding in Arizona’s 6th Congressional District. Republican incumbent Juan Ciscomani, who was trailing early in the evening, has now surged ahead of Democrat challenger Kirsten Engel. Engel, who led in the early returns, is now facing a slim deficit as Ciscomani has gradually pulled ahead.
