Pima County residents can sound off on RTA Next plan

Here’s your chance to sound off on the RTA Next plan ahead of next March’s election to approve a $2.67 billion plan for transportation projects and transit services.

Regional Transportation Authority officials opened a portal Friday to accept arguments for and against Propositions 418 and 419, which would extend the current half-cent sales tax for transportation projects and transit services for another 20 years if approved by voters.

Arguments are due by 5 p.m. Dec. 10 and will be published in a publicity pamphlet that will be mailed to Pima County voters ahead of the March 10 election.

Arguments must be no more than 300 words and will be published exactly as written.

The cost is $25 per submission.

Visit the Pima County Elections Department website for more information about submitting an argument.

Arguments can also be filed in person at the Elections Department, 6550 S. Country Club Rd.

Read the Sentinel’s rundown of the RTA Next plan here.

The RTA is also holding a series of public presentations about the plan. See the Sentinel’s political calendar for details.

For questions regarding submitting an argument, contact the Elections Department at 520-724-6830 or by email at [email protected].
