Pima County mourns passing of CO Charles Goodall | Local News

TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – The Pima County Sheriff’s Department announced the passing of Corrections Officer Charles Goodall, Badge #9989, following an off-duty personal incident.

Goodall, 19, had been serving at the Pima County Adult Detention Complex for five months, just beginning his career in public safety.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS), Goodall passed away following a tragic multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 near Chandler, Arizona.

AZDPS said the crash occurred on July 16, 2025, at 11:31 a.m. at milepost 175.

Goodall was traveling westbound on a motorcycle when he failed to stop in time, colliding with a vehicle in front of him, according to AZDPS.

Officials said the impact ejected Goodalll into the second lane, where he was then hit by a commercial vehicle.

Goodall was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead, AZDPS said.

“We extend our deepest condolences to Charles’ family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time,” the department said.
