Olympic flame returns to Greece as games close in Verona | Top Stories

VERONA, Italy (KVOA) – The Olympic Winter Games concluded with a grand closing ceremony at the historic Verona Arena.

Originally built in 30 AD, the Verona Arena served as a stunning backdrop that highlighted Italy’s rich history and cultural significance as the games came to an end.

The eternal flame was ceremoniously taken to be returned to Greece, marking the end of this chapter of the Olympics.

American athletes Hillary Knight, a hockey gold medalist, and Evan Bates, a gold and silver medalist in figure skating, proudly carried the American flag during the event.

In a traditional handover ceremony, the Olympic flag was officially passed to France, the next host nation. The 2030 Winter Games are set to take place in the picturesque French Alps.
