TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) — A cat named Sonia was reunited with her family after being missing for nine years.
Sonia was found through the Humane Society of Southern Arizona’s Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR) program, which manages community cat populations.
During a routine procedure at Santa Cruz Veterinary Clinic, Sonia was scanned for a microchip, revealing that she had an owner.
The clinic contacted the Humane Society, which facilitated her return to the family.
Sonia’s owner arrived at the shelter and was immediately recognized by the cat, who meowed upon seeing her.
The family, who had been searching for Sonia for nearly a decade, was reunited with their pet just in time for the holidays.
