A 33-year-old man was killed Sunday afternoon when Tucson police say the car he was driving was struck by a speeding vehicle on the city’s south side.
Oscar Pedro Salazar was driving a Hyundai Elantra onto South Sixth Avenue from a stop sign on eastbound East Michigan Drive about 3 p.m. Sunday when the vehicle was struck by a northbound car, Tucson police said Monday in a news release.
The unidentified driver of the northbound vehicle, a Ford Mustang, was traveling “well above the posted speed limit,” the release said. Excessive speed by the Mustang is the major contributing factor in this collision, police said.
No citations or charges have been issued in the crash, which still is being investigated.
