Lexington Lab Band, a Kentucky cover band with millions of YouTube followers, is making a rare public appearance at the fourth annual Rockin’ 4 Heroes concert in Oro Valley’s James D. Kriegh Park on Sunday, Nov. 10.
The concert is free. Gates open at 12:30 p.m. Music begins at 1 p.m. Parking is available at the park, Canyon del Oro High School, and the Oro Valley Church of the Nazarene. Rockin’ 4 Heroes is more than a concert.
The day includes the presentation of Community Hero Awards to local veterans and first responders, 30 booths and family-friendly games and activities.
Rockin’ 4 Heroes co-founders Bonnie and Michael Quinn are excited about Lexington Lab Band, which performs a range of music from Christopher Cross to Guns ‘N Roses.
Over the last 10 years, Lexington Lab Band has amassed a worldwide fan base primarily through its in-studio YouTube videos and recordings. The band only performs live a few times each year.
The Quinns found them online and sought them out. They went to Lexington, Kentucky, to see a concert. “We can’t believe you’ve actually come from Arizona to see us,” a band member said.
In turn, the band members came to Rockin’ 4 Heroes in 2023.
“We immediately knew we wanted to return and perform at this event,” said Michael Vandermark, the band’s founder. “The crowd, energy, the vibe, it all was amazing. We jumped at the opportunity to be part of this very fun and meaningful way to honor all the many men and women who serve across our country.”
“They said, ‘We’re in,’” Michael said.
“A really good cover band is a great way to revisit the music people love,” Bonnie said.
The Mark Miller Band, a local country favorite, opens the show. “They’re awesome,” Bonnie said. “We love them, too.”
Rockin’ 4 Heroes is a family-friendly, communitywide event paying public tribute to first responders, active military, veterans, and Gold Star families. Rockin’ 4 Heroes’ Hero Fund supports scholarships and other programs and initiatives “that benefit these heroes and their families,” an invitation said.
“Rockin’ 4 Heroes is unique, there is no other single event that enables our community to gather together to thank and celebrate all four of these hero groups,” Bonnie said. “Admission is free because we want to ensure there are no barriers of entry for anyone who wants to attend and to enjoy a fun afternoon while honoring these heroes who serve and protect our country and communities.”
