Weather was a factor in Friday’s opening round. It rained before play began and cold, windy conditions lingered all day.

That didn’t seem to bother Chalmers, who had his career-best round on the PGA Tour Champions.

Chalmers is two strokes ahead of Rod Pampling, Stephen Ames and Ernie Els, who are tied for second.
