Friday marks last day to submit public input on ADOT Sonoran Corridor project

The last day to submit public input for the Arizona Department of Transportation’s Sonoran Corridor project is Friday, July 18. ADOT is conducting an engineering and environmental study of the proposed 20-mile freeway that would connect Interstates 19 and 10, south of Tucson International Airport.

ADOT is seeking public input on whether the project is needed, as well as a range of possible alternatives to the freeway’s route.

Through input from public, agency, and tribal governments, the state agency is also evaluating potential interchange locations and other features.

Not constructing the freeway at all is still on the table, officials said.

“We are evaluating everything that could happen,” said Kara Spinney, community relations manager with ADOT. “We’re doing a study to determine if there will be a project or not.”
The corridor, also known as State Route 410, would aim to improve vehicle mobility, address existing and future high-growth areas, and shorten east-west movement between Southern Arizona and Mexico.

The public can provide comments on the Sonoran Corridor in the following ways:

  • Take the online survey
  • Call the Bilingual Project Information Line at (855) 712-8530
  • Email the project team at [email protected]
  • Mail comments to ADOT Sonoran Corridor Study Team, c/o Gordley Group, 2540 N. Tucson Blvd., Tucson, AZ 85716

Study outreach materials, such as the presentation from public meetings, display boards, and a fact sheet, are available on the study website.
