Extra, Extra, Read How Your SaddleBag Notes Are Delivered | Community

Did you know that Senior Village volunteers deliver the SaddelBag Notes to your mailbox? That is a fact. There is a team behind the scenes that ensures that residents of SaddleBrooke receive the paper on the last Thursday/Friday of the month.

Barbara Leesley began as the team leader for SaddleBag Notes delivery in January of this year, replacing original leader David Loendorf. Barbara has five delivery managers who sort 1,000 bags and newspapers into 12 or 13 units based on the HOA unit size and number of volunteers. The unit delivery volunteers then bag the newspapers they are responsible for distributing. The number of deliveries can vary from 34 to 200 per driver, based on the unit and interest of the volunteer. Units can have multiple volunteers who rotate months and sub when needed. David calculated 55 efficient delivery routes in HOA-1 and HOA-2 driven monthly by Senior Village volunteers within three hours or less. This once-a-month volunteer position is a great way to get involved in your community. You will see your neighbors and support Senior Village by delivering the SaddleBag Notes. Barbara shared that she’s, “Paying it forward,” when asked why she volunteers for Senior Village. Anyone can volunteer to deliver the Notes or be a sub as needed. Barbara adds, “Senior Village is a wonderful organization. They provide invaluable services to people in SaddleBrooke.”

If you’d like to receive the paper or cancel delivery, please call Senior Village at (520) 314-1042 and leave a message for Barbara. If you would like to become a volunteer and join Barbara’s team, email [email protected] for information.
