WILLCOX, Ariz. (KVOA) – A multi-agency DUI task force, led by the Willcox Police Department, successfully ensured public safety during the Rex Allen Days celebration on Oct. 3 to Oct. 4.

The operation, which involved several local law enforcement agencies, resulted in 43 traffic stops and four DUI arrests. Notably, two of these were classified as Aggravated DUI, with one involving a child passenger.
According to a news release, a significant incident occurred when a driver attempted a “burnout” near the parade route, nearly striking spectators. The driver, found to be impaired, was taken into custody after refusing to exit the vehicle voluntarily.
“Integrity first, Service before self, Excellence in All We Do,” said Chief Dale Hadfield of the Willcox Police Department, emphasizing the task force’s commitment to community safety.
The event also saw the implementation of a Ride Home Program, which safely transported three individuals home, and support from the Cochise County Detention Department.
Chief Hadfield expressed gratitude for the inter-agency cooperation and support from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, highlighting the importance of such collaborations in maintaining public safety.
