TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – Pima Dance is set to present “Pulse,” an electrifying dance showcase at Pima Community College’s Proscenium Theatre on May 2-3 at 7 p.m.
This dynamic event features original works developed by students, faculty, and guest choreographers throughout the spring semester. Jillian Peterson, a faculty member and director of “Pulse,” along with guest choreographers Connie Salgado and Kenzie Jean, will debut pieces that highlight the ensemble’s versatility.
The showcase also includes a featured work by Tucson’s Esperanza Dance Project, created in collaboration with Pima students. Esperanza Dance Project, directed by Beth Braun, is known for using dance to educate about childhood sexual trauma and deliver messages of hope and empowerment.
“This piece is incredibly energetic — it’s full of running and big, sharp movements,” said cast member Julian Prieto.
The program includes “Burn the Floor,” a high-energy jazz piece by Kenzie Jean, and a stunning folklórico piece by Connie Salgado. The showcase will also feature a lively Bollywood piece choreographed by Peterson, which was a crowd favorite last season.
Pima Dance offers students opportunities to perform, choreograph, and participate in diverse dance experiences. The Dance Ensemble produces two concerts annually and offers classes in ballet, jazz, modern, and folklórico.
Tickets for “Pulse” are $10 with discounts available and free for Pima students. For more information, contact the box office at 520-206-6986 or visit pimaarts.com.
