TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) — The City of Tucson planted 26 trees Saturday to support ongoing VIVA (Violence Interruption and Vitalization Action) work in the 6200 S. Campbell Ave. area.

Saturday morning, the City of Tucson, the City Manager’s Office, Tucson Clean and Beautiful, Scotia Management Group, Avenue 5, the Tucson Police Department, and the Community Safety, Health, and Wellness Program came together to support this community revitalization project.

The 26 native shade trees were planted in between the basketball court and the leasing office of the complex.

These trees will serve an expanded green canopy and providing natural shade. It will also support youth who play basketball around the courts and engage in other outdoor activities during the hot months.
