Casino Del Sol honors veterans with dedication wall ceremony | Good News

TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – Casino Del Sol is honoring veterans with a dedication wall ceremony. The event, which took place on Monday, featured the Pascua Yaqui Color Guard and Tribal Council, and it will remain open to the public through the weekend in the conference center foyer.

“Native Americans serve in the military at a higher rate than any other group and we are very proud of that, our warrior tradition. And we want to celebrate them and this is a day that we can remember veterans past and honor veterans present,” Amanda Lomayesva, interim CEO of Casino Del Sol, said.

Visitors have the chance to sign the wall with messages for military personnel, making it a place of connection and healing.

Lomayesva highlighted the community’s strong ties to military service.

“There is a large number of Pascua Yaqui veterans who have served our country with honor,” Lomayesva said. “Through this memorial wall, we want to thank and honor them, along with all veterans who have sacrificed so much for our freedoms.”

The Veterans Memorial Wall is part of Casino Del Sol’s decade-long tradition of honoring military service and strengthening community bonds. This dedication ceremony is one of many ways the Pascua Yaqui Tribe gives back to those who have served.

The memorial wall, located at 5655 W. Valencia Road, Tucson, will be accessible to the public through Nov. 16.
