TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – The University of Arizona Center for Innovation (UACI) announced that Executive Director Casey Carrillo has been appointed to the Greater Oro Valley Chamber of Commerce board of directors.
Carrillo has been a key figure in driving innovation in Southern Arizona, holding previous roles at the University of Arizona’s McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship and the Office of Digital Learning. At UACI, she continues to foster regional partnerships and support the growth of science and tech startups.
The Oro Valley Chamber has been a significant partner for UACI, aiding in multiple Sponsored Launch programs that benefit local science and tech startups. Since 2020, the UACI Oro Valley outpost has served as a crucial innovation hub.
“I look forward to serving on the Oro Valley Chamber board,” Carrillo said. “Innovation thrives where collaboration exists.”
Kristen Sharp, President and CEO of the Greater Oro Valley Chamber of Commerce, praised Carrillo’s appointment, saying, “Casey’s passion for innovation and regional collaboration makes her a valuable addition to our board.”
The UACI has impacted over 300 companies in its two-decade history, contributing significantly to Arizona’s economy by supporting science and tech startups.
