Body camera footage from Marana toddler hot car death | News

MARANA, Ariz. (KVOA) — Through body camera footage, News 4 Tucson is now seeing the moments officers arrived to the home of the Marana father whose daughter died inside a hot car.

After weeks of police investigating, sorting through conflicting facts, and Scholtes appearing in court, we’re seeing body camera footage for the first time — showing us initial reaction from

Scholtes and the action taken by first responders.

Through blurred footage, we see Marana Police and first responders arrive to the home of Christopher Scholtes on July 9th. Scholtes is charged with first degree murder and child abuse after his two-year-old daughter died inside a hot car.

Throughout the video, the officer follows

Scholtes. He’s seen pacing around the house, grabbing his face, and asking for updates on his daughter.

Marana Police say the toddler had been in the back of the car for about three hours when she was found. Records show the temperature that day hit 109 degrees.

Scholtes is expected back in court next month.
