Arizona launches new Turquoise Alert System | News

PHOENIX (KVOA) – Gov. Katie Hobbs and the Department of Public Safety will announce the launch of the Arizona Turquoise Alert on Thursday.

This new tool aims to assist in locating missing vulnerable individuals across the state.

The Department of Public Safety began implementing the alert in early 2025. Bipartisan legislation signed in May has now codified it into law.

The Governor’s team says this initiative is particularly significant for Tribal communities, which have long faced a crisis of missing and murdered Indigenous people.

The announcement will take place at 9 a.m. at the DPS Headquarters located at 2222 West Encanto Boulevard in Phoenix. Gov. Hobbs will be joined by Vice President Paul Russell of the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation, Lt. Col. Deston Coleman of the DPS, and Matt Giordano, executive director of AZPOST.
