AG announces $6M grant for tribal nations impacted by sober living fraud | Arizona News

PHOENIX (KVOA) — Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes announced a $6 million grant program today to assist Tribal Nations affected by fraudulent practices in the state’s sober living home industry.

The initiative, funded through the Anti-Racketeering Revolving Fund, is aimed at addressing the fallout from behavioral healthcare fraud tied to Arizona’s Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS).

The Sober Living Home Support Program will provide grants of up to $500,000 to eligible Tribal Nations. These funds are intended to help with compensation, remediation, and the provision of supportive housing for those affected by fraudulent sober living operations.

The program seeks to mitigate economic losses and bolster recovery efforts, as part of Mayes’ ongoing efforts to address the harm caused by deceptive practices targeting vulnerable populations in Arizona.

Eligible Tribal Nations can apply for grants through the State of Arizona’s official grant portal. The application deadline is January 31, 2025. The grants will fund direct assistance, compensatory programs, and community-based initiatives aimed at supporting those impacted by the scandal.
