FORECAST: Freeze Warnings tonight!

PHOENIX — Winds persist across Arizona, accompanied by a big drop in temperatures!

Wind Advisories remain effect through tonight for the upper Colorado River Valley, including areas like Lake Havasu City and Bullhead City. Peak gusts could reach 55 mph, posing challenges for high-profile vehicles and potentially causing blowing dust and reduced visibility.

These winds are ushering much colder air.

Freeze Warnings are in place tonight into Wednesday morning for central and western Arizona, including most of the Valley, as well as northwestern Pinal and La Paz counties.

To prepare for these freezing conditions, remember to protect the 4 P’s: People, pets, plants and pipes. Bundle up and bring your pets inside overnight, protect any sensitive plants by covering them with a blanket, sheet or towel, and wrap any exposed pipes to prevent them from bursting.

Looking ahead, high pressure will return later this week, bringing warmer temperatures. Highs in Phoenix will climb back into the 70s with overnight lows in the 40s on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

However, another storm system is on the horizon. This system could deliver a fresh surge of cold air and bring enough moisture for rain and snow showers. By Sunday and Monday, highs in Phoenix will drop back into the mid 60s, with a slight chance of spotty showers.

The ongoing dry spell at Sky Harbor continues to make history. As of Monday, January 20th, Phoenix has gone 151 days without measurable rain, the second-longest dry streak on record.

If dry conditions persist, the 1972 record of 160 days may soon fall.
