FORECAST: BIG Valley cool-down!

PHOENIX — Temperatures are plummeting to start the week as a winter storm moves in!

Valley highs will fall nearly 15 degrees on Monday, putting Phoenix in the mid 60s.

This cooler air is coming in as a winter storm tracks through our state.

It’s also cranking up winds and bringing the chance of rain and snow showers.

The snow level will be hovering between 4,000 and 5,000 feet in elevation with the potential of one to three inches of snow in the Flagstaff area.

Here in the Valley, we are not expecting much but there is a slight chance of a few isolated showers as breezes pick up on Monday.

Much windier conditions are expected across southeastern Arizona where gusts could approach 45 mph.

Red Flag Warnings and Blowing Dust Advisories are in effect for southeastern Arizona from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday. With low humidity, gusty winds and dry conditions, any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.

Forecast models are showing another storm system moving in on Thursday and Friday. Stay tuned for updates on that one as we get closer.
