First day at 105 or hotter in Phoenix!

PHOENIX — Phoenix topped 105 degrees on Thursday for the first time this year!

Our average first 105-degree day is May 22nd, so heat this intense is not uncommon for late May even as temperatures run 10 degrees above our daily average.

Temperatures will start to drop as breezes pick up on Friday.

Here in the Valley, gusts will peak near 25 mph. Up north, gusts could top 35 mph on Friday, bringing more critical fire weather conditions to parts of the high country as conditions stay dry.

In Mohave County, along the Colorado River, a Wind Advisory is in effect on Friday from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Gusts there could top 35 mph creating hazardous conditions for small boats on Lake Mohave and Lake Mead. Watch out for one to three foot waves.

Winds will back off over Memorial Day weekend as temperatures fall into the upper 90s to low 100s across the Valley.
