“We hate to have to do this, but we would like to see people be held accountable for their cruelness towards animals as much as all of you.”

That’s what Pinal County Animal Care and Control had to say about a person abandoning their dog outside its building on Dec. 30.

Now, it needs help to find the person responsible.

On Monday morning, Pinal County Animal Care and Control said a woman dumped her dog in its parking lot after she was told they don’t open until 10 a.m. and that an appointment is needed for owner surrenders.

“This poor dog chased his owner’s car desperately trying to get to her and was almost hit running into Eleven Mile Corner Rd. Staff has been trying to safely capture the dog, but has been unsuccessful as the dog is extremely terrified,” the shelter said.

By nighttime Monday, the dog was successfully rescued and is resting at the shelter.

“Update! The dog has been caught! He is understandably very scared, but safe,” the shelter said.

The woman is reportedly from Florence and drives a black sedan.

If you have information on who this person might be, you can contact Pinal County Animal Care and Control.

Abandoning an animal in the state of Arizona is illegal.
