Woman shot, killed at Desert Ridge Marketplace

PHOENIX – One person is in custody after a woman was shot and killed on Wednesday night at Desert Ridge Marketplace in north Phoenix.

What we know:

Phoenix Police say officers responded at around 9:40 p.m. on June 18 for reports of a shooting. Once at the scene, officers found a woman who had been shot. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say a man was detained.

FOX 10 cameras at the scene showed a police command unit in the parking lot and crime scene tape surrounding the northeast corner of the mall, located near Deer Valley and City Drives.

The area has since been reopened to the public.

What we don’t know:

No identities were released.

“As of now, we do not know the relationship or circumstances; additional details remain a part of the ongoing investigation,” police said.
