Woman killed, man arrested after Chandler shooting

CHANDLER, Ariz. — A woman is dead and a man is in custody after a shooting in Chandler, according to authorities.

The Chandler Police Department said officers responded to an apartment complex for a “domestic disturbance” near Arizona Avenue and Chandler Boulevard on Friday evening after reports of a shooting.

Officers arrived to find the door to the apartment open and an unresponsive woman inside.  Officers pulled the woman out of the apartment, and she was pronounced dead at the scene by fire crews.

“A second woman informed officers her adult son was barricaded in a bathroom, claiming to be armed and refusing to come out,” police said.

The department’s SWAT responded.

“Using less-lethal tools and a police K9, safely took the suspect into custody,” police said.

The man was taken to the hospital due to “low blood pressure.”

The names of those involved have not been released.
