Woman dies after being shot in west Phoenix

PHOENIX — A woman died after being shot in west Phoenix, according to officials with the city’s police department. 

Officers responded to an apartment complex near 43rd Avenue and Thomas Road after reports that the woman had been shot. Phoenix fire crews took the woman to the hospital in “extremely critical condition,” where she later died, officials said. 

Officers issued a shelter in place order for the apartment complex while searching for the suspect, which has since been lifted, officials said.
