Woman arrested in connection with 2025 road rage shooting

PHOENIX — A woman was arrested for her role in a 2025 road rage shooting that left one man dead, authorities say.

On Sep. 27, 2025, Phoenix police officers responded to a shooting near 7th and Missouri avenues just after 2 p.m. 

When officers got to the scene, they found a man with a serious gunshot wound. The man, identified as 54-year-old Stephen Guardino, was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

Detectives said the initial investigation revealed that Guardino was driving in the area and exited his vehicle to confront a woman who was inside her vehicle. 

The woman was stopped at the intersection of Missouri and 7th avenues. 

Police said the woman shot Guardino from inside her car and then stayed on scene to speak with officers. 

The woman was interviewed by police and later released “pending further investigation,” police said.

The woman, identified by police as Heather Crystal Arriaga, was arrested on April 6.
