Tucson mall evacuated after 2 people shot

A shooting at Tucson’s Park Place Mall left two injured.

TUCSON, Ariz. — Two people were injured in a shooting Wednesday evening at a Tucson shopping mall, authorities said.

Officers with the Tucson Police Department responded to reports of gunfire at Park Place Mall around 7 p.m. Upon arrival, they found two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported for medical care, though officials did not immediately release details on their conditions.

Police said the mall was shut down and evacuated as officers secured the scene and began their investigation.

Preliminary information indicates the shooting appears to be an isolated incident, according to police. However, investigators said numerous witnesses still need to be interviewed.

No additional injuries were reported. As of Wednesday night, no suspects had been taken into custody.
