Tempe Police investigate fatal Scottsdale Road shooting



The shooting happened shortly before 2 a.m. July 25 on Scottsdale Road just south of State Route 202.

TEMPE, Ariz. — Tempe police have arrested a 19-year-old in connection with the deadly shooting of a teen in July. 

The shooting that happened on Scottsdale Road near Loop 202, just north of the Arizona State University Tempe Campus, on July 25, just before 2 a.m.

When they arrived, they found a person with at least one gunshot wound. First responders pronounced him dead on the scene. Police identified the victim as a 17-year-old male. His identity has not been released. 

19-year-old Edwin Denis has been arrested in connection with the shooting, Tempe police said. 

The investigation is still ongoing.

Individuals who submit tips that lead to an arrest or indictment in the case can get a reward of up to $1,000.
