A 15-year-old boy has died after being hit by a vehicle Friday evening, Phoenix police say.
PHOENIX — A teen has died after being hit by a car in north Phoenix, officials with the city’s police department said.
Officers responded to reports of the crash just before 5 p.m. near Cactus Road and 19th Avenue and found the teen in life-threatening condition. The teen was rushed to the hospital, where he later died.
Police identified the teen as Jaime Pacheco Ramirez.
The driver initially stayed on scene but fled as officers were arriving, officials with the Phoenix Police Department said. The driver ran for a short time before being caught by officers, officials said.
The driver is “being evaluated at a nearby hospital and being processed for DUI,” officials said.
Toxicology results are pending, according to police.
