Some of the charges against Terrell Storey include first-degree murder, aggravated assault and burglary.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — The suspect who was involved in “multiple gun battles” with the Flagstaff Police Department before a deadly DPS helicopter crash on Feb. 4 is facing 50 charges in the case, according to court records.

Flagstaff PD said around 8:30 p.m., they received a report of a domestic violence incident near the neighborhood of W Route 66 between Mark Lane and S Thompson Road.

Upon arrival, they found the reported victim with no injuries. A little time later, police found the suspect, Terrell Storey, in the back of a residence with a long rifle, firing at officers.

For a little under two hours, “numerous gun battles” occurred between law enforcement officers and Storey, the Flagstaff police chief said.

Arizona DPS assisted in the shooting investigation in a helicopter. For an unknown reason at this time, the helicopter crashed around 10:15 p.m., killing both the pilot and the trooper-paramedic on board. The names of those individuals have been released. The FAA told 12News that the helicopter is a Bell 407.

The suspect in the shooting was taken into custody with non-fatal injuries around 10:30 p.m., officials said. No officers were injured in the shooting. Police said the suspect was “a career criminal.”

The three police officers have been placed on administrative leave as the investigation continues.

Storey faces two counts of first-degree murder, 23 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, six counts of home burglary, six counts of endangerment, 11 counts of disorderly conduct with a weapon, possessing a weapon by a prohibited person and disorderly conduct fighting.
