South Phoenix shooting leaves 1 dead

PHOENIX — A man died Thursday after being shot in south Phoenix, according to officials with the city’s police department. 

Officers were called to an area near Pointe Parkway and Guadalupe Road for reports of a shooting around 4 p.m. They found a man on the ground at an apartment complex with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

Another man and a woman were found nearby with injuries but are expected to be OK. Phoenix police officials could not confirm if the two were also shot and are waiting for more information from the hospital.

Officials did find a gun at the scene. Detectives are taking over the investigation.
