Police in Page have arrested two registered gang members from Texas and Arizona in connection with a shooting.
PAGE, Ariz. — Police have identified registered gang members as suspects allegedly involved in a shooting in Page, where someone was shot in the head while in a vehicle.
Officials said police received multiple calls of gunshots in the area of 10th Avenue and Castle Rock Street at about 10:30 pm on Tuesday, March 10.
A short time later, authorities said a person with a gunshot wound was driven to Page Hospital.
Officers found several bullet holes in the vehicle, police said.
The victim told police they were driving on 10th Avenue when a person exited another vehicle and began shooting at their vehicle.
Officers found several shell casings on the ground, police said.
The victim is expected to recover, according to officials.
A search warrant was executed at a local business on March 11 after police found the suspect vehicle. The search warrant reportedly helped investigators identify persons of interest and suspects. Police said one of the suspects was located and arrested for attempted first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated assault.
On Monday, investigators learned about another suspect in the case who was involved in another incident where someone was hit in the head with a pipe.
The suspect fled the scene but was later found hiding in a yard blocks from where the assault occurred, police said. The suspect was arrested for attempted first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated assault.
Investigators later located and seized the gun that was allegedly used in the attempted murder incident.
Both suspects have been in prison before on unrelated crimes and are registered gang members from Texas and Arizona, police said.
“From the moment this shooting occurred, our officers and investigators worked long hours, sacrificed days off, and remained on stand-by status until the suspects were identified, located, and arrested,” Page Police Chief Tim Lange said. “This investigation has been a team effort and commendations will be forthcoming, but I must recognize our entire investigations division, as well as the Arizona Gang and Immigration Intelligence Team, the Navajo Police Department, the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office, and the Kane County Sheriff’s Office for the resources they provided during this dangerous investigation. We also appreciate the hard work put forth by the Coconino County Attorney’s Office to ensure these individuals remain in custody.”
More charges and arrests may be forthcoming as evidence is processed and analyzed, police said.
