Police looking for suspect in attempted kidnapping in Tolleson

TOLLESON, Ariz. — A man who police said tried to kidnap a child in Tolleson has been arrested. 

35-year-old Christopher Leon allegedly admitted to being involved in the incident to the police.

The incident happened on Sept. 29 near 87th Avenue and Van Buren Street. Tolleson police said Leon pulled the 11-year-old girl’s arm and attempted to drag her away. The child was able to break free and run for help, police said. 

Police then put out photos of Leon, hoping to receive tips from the public to identify him. 

Leon was identified and arrested on Oct. 4 by a Phoenix Police Department officer near I-10 and Chandler Boulevard. 

“During a post-arrest interview, Mr. Leon admitted his involvement in the September incident,” a statement from Tolleson police said. 

Leon is facing charges of aggravated assault and attempted kidnapping.
