Police investigating deadly shooting in Phoenix

PHOENIX — A man is dead following a shooting in west Phoenix, according to authorities.

The Phoenix Police Department said the shooting happened at around 7:45 p.m. on Sunday near 27th and Campbell avenues.

Officers responded after a report of gunshots in the area, police said.

“They found a large group of people in the area and a man on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound,” according to the police department.

The man was rushed to the hospital but he did not survive. His name has not been released.

Witnesses told officers that the shooter left the scene before officers arrived. That suspect has not been arrested, police said.
