North Phoenix shooting leaves woman dead



Police identified the woman as 45-year-old Alma Suchilt and the suspect as 47-year-old Jonathan Llamas Cisneros.

PHOENIX — A woman is dead after a domestic violence-related shooting in north Phoenix early Friday morning, according to Phoenix police.

The shooting happened near 40th Street and Meadow Drive, east of State Route 51 and north of Bell Road.

Police identified the woman as 45-year-old Alma Suchilt and the suspect as 47-year-old Jonathan Llamas Cisneros. 

Around 6 a.m., officers responded to the scene near 40th Street and Bell Road for reports of a shooting. As officers arrived, they found a woman with multiple gunshot wounds. 

Officials said she was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, but she died at the hospital.

Cisneros was arrested after law enforcement found him driving south on I-8 headed toward Gila Bend.

“A traffic stop was attempted, but Llamas Cisneros failed to comply and took off from officers.  With the assistance of multiple agencies, to include the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, Department of Public Safety, Border Patrol, and the Arizona Department of Transportation, Llamas Cisneros was eventually stopped and arrested,” Phoenix police said.

Cisneros is facing multiple charges, including murder and felony flight.

Individuals who submit tips that lead to an arrest or indictment in the case can get a reward of up to $1,000.
